Paddling

Our hikes take in the numerous rivers, ponds and different lake-types of Lakeland Finland. Paddling is the best way of becoming acquainted with this Finnish treasure. The Indian canoe originated from the Indians of North-American; they made their canoes primary from bark. Irrespective of the common belief, the India canoe is a fascinating and stable boat. You can easily take more gear with you, enabling you to do longer treks. Our canoes seat up to three people. We have a number of paddling treks planned, but will also tailor-make a trek to suit any special interests you may have.

The Little Indian

If you are interested in paddling in an indian canoe, we can get you started. Come alone or with your friends. The beginners course includes information on gear, safety, canoe packing, trip planning and, of course, paddling at Lake Härkäjärvi.

Indians hidden treasures

A great paddling adventure at Lake Härkäjärvi. There are several caches on the islands and along the shores which you try to find with a map, compass or your own gps. These include questions on Finnish nature. At the end of the adventure you will get the right answers from the guide and you might learn more about Finnish nature.

Hiking and treking

A paddling day at lake Härkäjärvi

Spend the day at Lake Härkäjärvi with a canoe. During the day you will enjoy beautiful views, explore the wildlife of the lake and visit an old beaver dam. We will take picnic breaks when needed. At the end of the day we will make you a meal of soup and coffee by the campfire.

A paddling day at Lake Härkäjärvi with overnight stay

A similar paddling day as above, but including an overnight stay in a tent or “laavu” with campfire. You will need larger meals and breakfast supplies for this trip. Drinking water is provided. The tents and sleeping mats are included in the price.

Paddling at river Naarajoki

The Otter`s tour

Loma Trio – Niskanivu laavu. A one day paddling tour on the silent river Naarajoki exploring the wildlife.

The Beaver`s tour

Loma Trio – Niskanivu laavu – Porsaskoski. A 2 day paddling tour on the silent river Naarajoki with wildlife exploration. The Trip also goes across small lakes. Camping overnight in tents.

Hiking/snowshoeing

There is always time for hiking and exploring the wildlife. Our nature service operates throughout the year. All you need is the right gear for different seasons and weather conditions. We want you to experience nature through the senses; to see, hear, smell and taste nature. The distance covered is not important; the main thing is that you enjoy the experience.

“Call of the Snowshoes”

Come and check the wild world of snowshoe walking. You have instant access to the forest and peaceful nature with snowshoes, no trails required.
In our treks you might see tracks of a lynx and hear silent voices of winter nature. Snowshoeing is suitable for everybody !
We have “devils room” on the hill, which is located near our laavu (fireplace) by the lake Härkäjärvi. After the snowshoe trek we enjoy by the campfire and have something hot to drink.

Winter camping in the forest

This little trekking course is for all who are interesting in winter trekking and nature. You can come with your friends, family or working mates to experience the winter camping. Have you ever wished to spend the night in the snowy forest in a tent. Now we make it comfortable and safety for you by this course. Come and get caught in winter trekking !

Where: Toivola region in Kutemajärvi by the lake Härkäjärvi.
Duration: Aprx. 24h, sat am 12.00- sun am 12.00.
Includes: Learning survival skills: fire, water out of snow, cooking on the campfire, orienteering, snowshoening, fishing on ice, animal tracks, knowledge of the gears Ask for more!
Gears: Dressing: quite a few thin levels, hiking boots (for ex.), backpack, sleeping bag and foam sleeping pad for winter use, knife, forehead lamp…. You get the exact list of gears, after you have come forward.

Kinnaneva tour

This tour takes you through the local forest and marshland. We hike the nature trails and explore the varied countryside. The nature trail takes you to the only large wild swamp in the Kangasniemi region. The guide will tell you about nature and make coffee or tea for your own picnic. In the wintertime we can use snowshoes during the tour.

Guided bird -watching tours

Our guided bird- watching tours start early in the spring and through the summer.

Fishing at lake Härkäjärvi

We arrange fishing tours with a small motorboat. The lake is over 30m deep in places and there are pike and pike-perch, for example. At the end of the day we offer coffee and snacks by the campfire.
